The Greek Store

When I was a little girl I used to go with my Yiayia to “the Greek store”. It was filled with imported foods from Greece: kalamata olives, feta cheese, tarama salata, olive oil, fresh baked bread, koulouria…the variety was endless.

There is a “Greek store” that reminds me of those shopping trips with my Yiayia. It’s called the “Hellenic Grocery”, but it’s on the opposite side of town from where I live.  So, “Where do I get my ‘Greek food’?”, you might ask. “COSTCO” is my answer. Yes, it’s absolutely true.

Pilaros pitted kalamata olives, Mt. Vikos sheep and goat’s milk feta and Castella pitted Greek Meze are all available at COSTCO. Ok so, they don’t have the fresh baked Greek bread or the tarama salata or the koulouria, but it’s a start…
